TMZ: Lindsay Lohan arrested in New York after allegedly punching woman in night club

NEW YORK - Lindsay Lohan has reportedly been arrested in New York City, according to TMZ .

TMZ reports Lohan allegedly punched a woman at a nightclub and was arrested around 4 a.m. Thursday.

According to the report, law enforcement told TMZ the two women were sitting in separate booths at Club Avenue when words were exchanged between the women.

Some time passed and then Lohan allegedly punched the girl.

By the time police arrived, Lohan had reportedly left the club in a passenger car that was intercepted by officers who made the arrest. She has been charged with third-degree assault, according to the Associated Press.

TMZ reports that if Lohan is formally charged with the latest crime, it could result in a probation violation.

The victim did not require medical attention. Police said Lohan struck the woman in the face with her hand, Associated Press reports.
