One Direction, the very popular British boy band is suing an American band also named One Direction, but only because the American band is suing them for the same reason.

According to E! Online, the British boys claim to have been One Direction since fall 2010, when they hit the spotlight on the United Kingdom’s ‘The X Factor.’

Apparently the American band is making claims that they have too have been calling themselves One Direction for a number of years, but they say it’s been since 2009.

The entire ordeal began, according to E! Online, when the American group asked the British group to change their name because they trademarked the title, and then proceeded to sue Sony Music and their record label.

The British boys have become increasingly popular by American music-lovers, especially the boy-band-loving young girls in the United States, and that they are more popular and successful than the American band ever has been.

We wonder in what direction this lawsuit will go…
