The daughter of former US President Ronald Reagan has written a new novel centered on a lesbian love story.

“Till Human Voices Wake Us” has been released as an e-book and tells the story of a bereaved mother who falls in love with her sister-in-law, according to the U.K.’s Independent .

Patti Davis, who has previously written about her famous parents Ronald and Nancy Reagan, wrote that she was “excited” about this new era in self-publishing after being disappointed that publishers did not like the book enough to publish as a hard copy.

According to the Independent,  Davis said, “Maybe this non-autobiographical novel was too much of a departure for publishers to wrap their heads around…Most writers have books they have laboured over for years and long to put out into the world. Till Human Voices Wake Us is one of those books.”

Davis is known for her liberal streak, in spite of her father’s conservative stance.

She’s posed nude on the cover of “Playboy” magazine and at 58 bared all again for “More” magazine.

She was married to her yoga teacher from 1984 to 1990.
