Nicki Minaj scared fans won't like her on 'American Idol'

Singer Nicki Minaj says she's concerned about how her fans will accept her as a judge on "American Idol."

Minaj is set to make her debut on the new season and says she is worried she'll seem to be an "unpleasant person" on the show, according to the Daily Mail online .

The new season debuts on January 16.

Minaj also said she wouldn't be able to watch herself, telling Ryan Seacrest on his radio show that she's going to be nervous.

The 29-year-old says she thinks "brutal honesty" is going to be best for the contestants on the show.

Minaj said she's grown as an artist more from the "tougher criticism" and wants to be the person to help the contestants develop a thick skin and to "really give it their all."

The new season's other judges on the show include Mariah Carey, Randy Jackson and Keith Urban.
