Fans share memories of Whitney Houston

PHOENIX - After news that Whitney Houston had died on Saturday, fans turned to social media to share their memories of the popular singer.

One place they shared their thoughts was on ABC15's Facebook page where Suzy Batitsas wrote, " I have loved Whitney Houston since I was like 3. She was one of the all time best singers. I have always said the top three Whitney, Mariah, and Celine. Like one of my friends said....I feel like I lost a part of my childhood. This, for me, is worse than MJ :(

Many more agreed that they will remember Houston for her music.

"Her magnificent voice! I will always love you/ the bodyguard is a favorite of mine," Marisa Mata wrote.

Police said Houston was pronounced dead just before 4 p.m. in her room on the fourth floor of the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. Detectives are investigating, and the cause of her death is unknown.

Cindey Siegrist Blaydes remembered Houston's rendition of the National Anthem "at the Super Bowl during Desert Storm."

Several people said they would remember Houston most for the movie "The Bodyguard," but "The Preacher's Wife" was the favorite of Gigi Harrison and Michella Tsosie said "Waiting to Exhale," filmed here in the Valley, was her favorite.

At her peak, Houston was the golden girl of the music industry. From the middle 1980s to the late 1990s, she was one of the world's best-selling artists.

"What a gift she had and how tragic it is snuffed out so early," wrote Debbie Bartelt. "RIP."
