Mimi Rogers extends sympathies to Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes

TOM CRUISE's ex-wife MIMI ROGERS has extended her sympathies to the actor following his split from KATIE HOLMES, insisting "marriage is hard no matter what".

The actress, who was married to Cruise from 1987 until 1990, admits she was sad to hear her ex-husband had parted ways with his third wife in June (12).

Now the first woman to walk down the aisle with the Top Gun star has offered her condolences to Cruise on the breakdown of his marriage, telling New York Post gossip column Page Six, "I think it’s hard for anybody, and I hope they are both doing well. I really do. You know (we don't see each other often), not really. It’s always been great if we do run into each other."

She adds to Usmagazine.com, "I wish them both the best. There's not much else to say. I really do, though. I wish them the best... I think marriage is hard work no matter what. I think it's about first and foremost being great friends."

Rogers is now married to producer Chris Ciaffa, while Cruise went on to marry and divorce Nicole Kidman before exchanging vows with Holmes.

Holmes, who has a daughter, Suri, with Cruise, filed for divorce in June (12) just days before the actor's 50th birthday on 3 July (12).
