TWILIGHT star KELLAN LUTZ is a budding inventor who has a plan to foil cops chasing bank robbers.

The actor has been working on the idea since he was a science nerd growing up in Iowa and he made a pitch for a billionaire to invest in his idea during an appearance on U.S. late night show Conan on Thursday (15Nov12).

He told the host, "As a kid I wanted to rob a bank - I still want to... It was more to get away with it... I was like, 'Why don't the guys getting chased by the cops have a trapdoor under their car; you should plan ahead.

"My idea was... I'd have a getaway vehicle and I'd go down an alleyway... so there's only one lead vehicle chasing me... I'd have, like, a Pokemon ball... and I'm obsessed with (engineer and physicist Nikola) Tesla... so there's Tesla coils in there and I've a chemical compound and the whole idea is you push the Pokemon ball... throw it under your trapdoor; it's full electricity and once it hits the lead vehicle, it, like, hits the metal (and) it just disrupts the battery and fries it.

"When you stop the lead vehicle, it stops all the other cars."

Lutz has also come up with a laundry invention to turn "cool baby clothes" into fashion items for adults.

He added, "I'm a terrible washer, dryer - whatever shrinks your clothes... so I was saying, 'Why can't you have an expander... which expands the follicles of your fabric...'

"I could buy my baby clothes, save money 'cos it's cheaper and then just throw it in this expander and have some cool clothes to wear."
