Pop star KE$HA is to be honored for her animal advocacy work by The Humane Society of the United States .
The Tik Tok hitmaker, who became the organisation's first Global Ambassador last year (12), has always been vocal about animal rights issues, recently calling on fans to help protest against the commercial slaughter of seals in Canada.
And now the 25 year old will receive the prestigious Wyler Award during the Genesis Awards Benefit Gala in Los Angeles on 23 March (13) for her tireless efforts to bring about change.
She says, "It means so much to me to be recognized by The Humane Society of the United States because advocating for animals is second nature to me. My affinity with animals and the natural world inspires me and my music. I don't understand how anyone can justify abusing or exploiting animals, and as long as it continues, I intend to keep talking about it."
Meanwhile, executive Beverly Kaskey insists the decision to recognize the singer was a no-brainer: "The animals have a bold and passionate ambassador in Ke$ha, who is not known for holding back on what she thinks.
"The Humane Society of the United States is grateful to Ke$ha for informing her millions of fans worldwide about new and ongoing threats to our fellow creatures, while connecting them to resources that enable them to take action."
