After the very public disclosure of Taylor Swift and John Mayer’s failed relationship in Swift’s song, “Dear John,” Mayer seems to have retaliated with his new song, “Paper Doll.”
Although Mayer has not disclosed whether the first single for his upcoming album, “Paradise Valley,” is talking about Swift or not, there are several lyrical clues that point to the country star, reported Entertainment News .
One of Mayer’s lyrics, “Someone’s gonna paint you another sky,” serves as a possible reference to Swift’s original song.
In the song, Swift said, “You paint me a blue sky and go back and turn it to rain.”
Another lyrical clue Mayer sings is, “You’re like 22 girls in one / and none of them know what they’re running from.”
One of Swift’s hit songs is called “22,” and she sang in “Dear John,” “regret how I ignored when they said ‘Run as fast as you can.’”
