MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY's wife CAMILA ALVES is struggling to recover from the birth of her third child after doctors performed additional surgery to cure a painful mystery ailment immediately after delivering the baby via Caesarean section.
The couple welcomed son Livingston on 28 December (12), but the former model reveals her third pregnancy was a difficult one and she begged medics to find out and fix what was wrong with her when she went under the knife to give birth.
She says, "This time around has been a really tough recovery. I had a really tough pregnancy; I had all kinds of things happen throughout the pregnancy and... I had really strong pains and I kept telling the doctors to find what it was, what was happening... Nobody could figure (it) out, so we ended up having to do a C-section and I told the doctor right before I went in, I said, 'Once I'm in there, take a look because I know something is wrong.'
"They end up finding all sorts of things that we had to take care of it (sic), so this recovery has been extremely hard because I had a C-section and then I had all these extra procedures..."
Alves has been banned from exercising as she heals from the surgery, but she is counting down the final four weeks and can't wait to be able to lift her kids into her arms again.
She adds, "I'm not able to exercise because of the recovery that I have now... I can't even pick up my kids really, I really have to be careful. I have another four weeks to go..."
The exercise restriction has forced the Brazilian beauty to find other ways to regain her pre-baby figure, and she insists it's all down to a healthy diet.
She continues, "I had to learn about the eating, the diet, and water - always have a gallon of water (a day) and I'm just drinking that thing all day long."
McConaughey and Alves are also parents to son Levi, four, and three-year-old daughter Vida.
