Veteran TV star BETTY WHITE was honored for her animal charity work at a Christmas-themed ceremony in Los Angeles on Thursday (06Dec12).

The Golden Girls icon was the guest of honor at Universal Studios, where she was named the Who-Manitarian of the Year, a nod to Dr. Seuss' festive story How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

She was handed the accolade by a cast of characters from the film adaptation of the book at the opening of the park's Grinchmas attraction.

Speaking as she received the honor, White said, "I really appreciate this award, and I appreciate all of you beautiful people around me."

White has long supported animal causes, and in October (12) she was honored with the National Humanitarian Medal and Legacy Award at the American Humane Association's second annual Hero Dog Awards.
