Monica Lempert is a multimedia journalist for ABC15 News.
She came to the Valley from KHBS/KHOG in northwest Arkansas, where she was a multimedia journalist and fill-in anchor.
During her time there, Monica chased tornadoes for 18 hours straight, covered the infamous motorcycle accident that led to the firing of Razorback head football coach Bobby Petrino, and even traveled all the way to Italy to re-establish relations with Arkansas’ sister city of Cisterna di Latina.
While covering breaking news of a drug bust, Monica captured exclusive video and audio that led to the firing of a Department of Human Services worker. She won an AP award for investigative reporting in the case.
Before moving to Arkansas, Monica was at KITV4 News in Honolulu, Hawaii where she covered an array of breaking news on the island of Oahu.
Monica had many unforgettable experiences while in Hawaii, including covering the 2010 and 2011 tsunami warnings, and telling the stories of survivors of the attack on Pearl Harbor as they toured the sacred grounds of the USS Arizona Memorial.
Monica graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a Bachelor’s in Broadcast News. She discovered her passion for journalism during her internship with our Scripps station, Denver’s 7 News, along with an internship at E! News in Los Angeles.
Monica was born in Saratoga, California where she was raised in a multi-cultural family. She and her sister were brought up by their Japanese mother and Latvian father, who championed the importance of diversity and culture.
In her free time, Monica enjoys traveling, mountain biking, cooking, dining out with friends, and spending time with her apricot toy poodle, Sushi. If you have any story ideas, she would love to hear from you. Catch her on Twitter or Facebook.
