ABC15 and Fry’s Food Stores are teaming up to fight hunger from A to Z with the Alphabet Soup Food Drive from January 30 through March 2.
ABC15 will kick-off the drive on Wednesday, January 30 live at the Fry’s Food Store location at 1815 West Glendale Avenue in Phoenix. Our drive aims to help food banks fill their shelves after the tough holiday months.
ABC15 and Fry’s Food Stores are asking viewers and customers to make a difference by dropping off non-perishable food items and making monetary donations during the month of February.
The drive benefits United Food Bank and St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance, and will take place at all 119 Fry’s Food Store locations throughout the state of Arizona.
“Fry's invites its customers, neighbors and associates to join us in the battle against hunger,” said Jon Flora, President of Fry’s Food Stores. “Currently, one in four children goes to bed hungry each night. This is unacceptable. Let's join together to fill the shelves at our local food banks. Together we can make a difference.”
“ABC15’s commitment is to help make Arizona a better place to live, and there is no more important issue than the hunger of children and families,” said Anita Helt, vice-president and general manager at ABC15. “We are proud to team up with Fry’s Food Stores and our generous viewers to help get food to needy families. The Alphabet Soup Food Drive allows people a convenient way to help those in need.”
Each Tuesday of the drive, Chief Meteorologist Amber Sullins and Traffic Anchor Brandon Hamilton will be live on location at various Fry’s stores for Souper Tuesdays!
They will be encouraging viewers to donate during each newscast throughout the day. Volunteers from St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance and United Food Bank will pick up the food and deliver immediately to their organizations.
ABC15 will also host a phone bank on Tuesday, February 19 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. for viewers to call in and make monetary donations toward the Alphabet Soup Food Drive.
Every dollar donated equals the same as six meals and that means every donation to the ABC15 and Fry’s Alphabet Soup Food Drive is significant and will make a difference in Arizona.
