Thousands of flyers around the country had a tough time getting to their destinations. Nearly 6,000 flights were canceled or delayed Wednesday morning, according to FlightStats.com.

Most of the areas affected were in the eastern part of the country.  Significant delays were reported on flights to and from multiple cities, including Dallas, New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Indianapolis, Philadelphia, and Cleveland.

At least seven flights were canceled at Sky Harbor, according to FlightAware.com.

Molly Fuller, from Glendale, waited to pick up her son whose flight was delayed.

"I'm just so nervous," she said as she checked the monitor for his arriving flight from Indianapolis.

"He's coming in because my daughter's getting married on Friday," she said.  "(He) got on an earlier one because if they (hadn't gotten on) an earlier one, they wouldn't have made it."

Fortunately, her son did arrive at the airport to be greeted by a very happy mother.

"There's my baby!" Fuller screamed as she ran to hug her son, Victor. "I'm so happy to see you. I'm so excited."
