PHOENIX - Arizona's blood supply is in desperate need of O-negative blood, according to United Blood Services.
The organization said that the state is 93 percent below the necessary levels, citing that only 16 units of O-negative blood remained to fill nearly 58 hospitals Monday morning.
O-negative blood is known as the "universal blood type," which means it can be substituted for other blood types during emergencies.
United Blood Services is asking Valley residents with O-negative blood to come out to one of their donation sites this week.
