When's the last time a record low was recorded at Sky Harbor?

Turns out it was on April 11th, 1978 when our over night low hit 39 degrees at Sky Harbor Int'l Airport, the official weather station for Phoenix.

However, the likelihood of seeing temperatures that cool again is very slim due to the heat island effect. As our city expands, more concrete exists within the city limits keeping our overnight low much higher.

In fact, the heat island has kept our nighttime temperatures running about 10 degrees higher than we use to in years past.

Cities and neighborhoods in the outlying areas will still experience cooler nights due to the farmland and fields.
