The 2009 All-Star game is looking to be the greenest game to date.

The NBA is buying green-energy credits that will offset the power expected to use at the US Airways Center for the All-Star game.

The Plan? The NBA will buy 1,500-megawatt hours in renewable-energy credits from APS. To put that into perspective: The average home uses 15-megawatt hours of power each year.

Phoenix Suns assistant coach Dan Majerle along with point guard Steve Nash will star in a recycling public service announcement that will air during the All-Star events.

The NBA plans to double the number of recycling bins available for fans.

1,700 volunteers at the NBA Jam Session will have T-shirts made from sustainable materials.

The NBA hopes to repeat the effort to go green in 2010 for the All-Star game in Dallas.
