PHOENIX -- June of 2009 is behind us, but what a month it was when talking about temperatures.

We had 16 days where the high temperature stayed in the 90s. Only 14 days of triple digits and to top it off, we had only 1 day where the mercury climbed over 110.

When you compare this June to June of 2008, it was a completely different animal.

Last June there were 27 of 30 days 100 degrees or higher with 14 of those days 110 or higher.

This June had a stretch of 15 consecutive days where the temperatures failed to reach 100 degrees. This tied as the third longest streak of sub-100 degree days in June on record. The record for consecutive days below 100 was 17 days back in 1913.

The average high temperature from the 6th through the 19th was 95.3, making it the coolest two-week stretch of weather in June since 1999.

In terms of the average high temperature this was the coolest June since 1998 when the average high temperature was 98.7. The average high this June was an even 100, which was tied for 27th coolest ever. The normal high for June is 103.9.

In terms of the average temperature (high and low) this was coolest June since 1998 when the average temperature was 85.3. This June's average temperature was 88.7. The normal is 89.8.

In terms of the average low temperature this was the coolest June since 1998 when the average low was 72.0. This June's average low was 77.4. The normal is 75.6.

We received a little rainfall this June at .02" at Sky Harbor. The average rainfall for June is .09".
