PEORIA, AZ - Officials say State Route 74 near Lake Pleasant has been re-opened after a violent 3-car wreck Wednesday evening.
SR74 had been closed since just before 5 p.m.
The multi-vehicle accident forced the closure of State Route 74 in the Northwest Valley Wednesday.
According to Peoria Police Spokesperson Mike Tellef, the driver of a Toyota 4-Runner crossed over the center line on SR74 at Lake Pleasant Parkway and hit a large box truck head-on.
A third car behind the 4-Runner then crashed into both vehicles, Tellef said.
The driver in the 4-Runner is said to be in critical condition at a local hospital.
The other drivers were not seriously hurt in the crash, Tellef said.
Eastbound and westbound traffic on SR74 is expected to be closed until about 8 p.m.
Traffic heading into the area should use Grand Avenue or Happy Valley Road.
