AVONDALE, AZ – Local residents will have to take caution when driving in the Avondale area as a new road closure will occur in the middle of November.
The intersection of Lower Buckeye Road and Central Avenue will be closed on November 17th until the 24th according to a City of Avondale press release on Monday.
Drivers will not be able to access Lower Buckeye Road from Central Avenue, but may use alternative routes through Litchfield Road, MC85, or Fourth Street.
The city stated that the road would be closed due to the installation of a new storm drainage pipe.
The installation is apart of the Elm Lane Drainage Mitigation project which is meant to improve the city by collecting excess water flow off the streets and into catch basins.
Both the City of Avondale and the Flood Control District of Maricopa County are funding the project.
