Aaron, the man that caused this accident was a friend. My heart goes out for both familys that lost their loved one and for those that were in the hospital... may you be bless with warmth and forgiveness i know that your brother and Aarron are both okay now...every time something goes wrong people have to find out why.. when at most time.. it was ment to be. Those of you that have a "Higher Being" what are you doing on here is casting stones at the dead, you have no right to judge them. This story went from blaming to Casting stones at your neighbor... i'm not a religous man but i know that what you people say here is counted in heave and you will have to answer for it.

This is my best friends family. How could anyone deal with this. It is so damn hard to get over someones death already, but to have you father taken from you just like that. My best freinds name is Jasmine Callihan. My name is Gwen. I am appalled at what happened here. Her family was like my family, so it hurts me too to see that family broken apart by some selfish person who only thinks of himself. I will take care of my best friend in any way I can. This is so stupid. It is so stupid to have all this heart break for something that could have very well been avoided. I wish Donte Was still here.

People die, when it's their time they die...in countless ways... My condolences to this family, we too have gone through a similar horror.

Absolutely senseless. What can anyone due to thwart drinking and driving, everything has been done and still nothing is helping. Those poor children and mother without Donte, God Bless them all. I do have an offer: TAX THE LIVING HELL out of alcohol, raise the drinking age to 25yrs old, do NOT sell alcohol in supermarkets or convenience stores or markets, TAX ALCOHOL 3 X'S like cigarettes, AND... sense alcohol has the capabilities of distorting the consumers perceptions and it IS addictive~ have it sold like our cold medicine is now sold, that everyone has to sign for it and it is limited. Alcohol is the most deadly but legal substance. How many people who smoke marijuana wipe out families in senseless accidents? 93% LESS than alcohol users, yet we allow alcohol to be legal, it's highly addictive and DESTROYS PEOPLE AND FAMILIES~ I'm sure the major alcohol companies (Budwieser and the like) pay top $$$ to keep taxes low and ENSURE that, although alcohol is a lethal substance, it is so readily available~ in poor neighborhoods there is a store on each and every corner to sell alcohol??? We NEED TO CONSIDER ALCOHOL AS A LETHAL SUBSTANCE AND TAX THE HELL OUT OF IT AND CONTROL ITS AVAILABILITY. ALCOHOL DESTROYS AND KILLS MORE THAN ANY SUBSTANCE KNOWN.

ASUgal, cameras are not installed to prevent accidents although they may identify the person responsible. Check your facts. Bw..It appears that a lot of people either can't read or comprehend what they're reading and just go off on a rant. Doesn't say much for their intelligence.

Well if someone was driving the wrong way at me I would at least have the intelegance to move the F over and not get hit. He was probrably texting when it happend. Sorry it did but experiance matters in this case and sounds like he had none.

Who is this man to say who should and who shouldn't be here? Heres what you should do. Pay attention when you drive and you could have increased your chances of being involved in this collision. I bet you are the same type that praises photo radar cameras. Where were the cameras to do their job to prevent this wreck?

BW Spoon - 5/28/2009 9:04 AM
SD, I will never win the argument with anyone in favor of photo radar so I'm not gonna bother with that. However, if you go back to my first post re: this article, my gripe is that this story has nothing to do with photo radar or any of the other speculative rantings of pissed off people. I get tired of reading people's opinions on topics that barely have a remote connection to what the story is about. People should work a little more on focusing on the topic at hand and not just getting up on a soapbox to shout to the world their thoughts on unrelated issues.

SuperDave - 5/27/2009 1:22 PM
Understood. I have too many issues with the photo radar to say the pros outweight the cons. Cons have it on this one. People here are not paying attention aas it is. They come up on a speed zone and hit the brakes even if they are doing 60 in a 65. The cameras are a hazzard and there is no evidence directly attributed to them to say different. I drive 80/day on 17 and 10 and have to deal with the back ups created by these cameras where a year ago there were no back ups even with more traffic then than today. Have been driving it for 25 years and consider myself somewhat knowlegable on this, unlike many others who run at the mouth. I could go on. I find my self repeatedly glancing down at my speedo making sure I am under prior to every zone. You see the rocket scientists put a camera at the bottom of the hill under Bethany Home road where your vehicle will naturally gain 3 to 4 MPH w/o giving it any additional gas. This is not safe. 17 is the worst as it is the only 55 zone left and everyone in all 4 lanes is doing at least 60. They NED TO RAISE I 17 TO 65 LIKE EVERYWHERE ELSE!!!!!

I agree SD, DPS will probably see little of the cash unfortunately. But I would hope that you can see that ANY money helps these and all other state funded agencies operate. Granted, $50,000 doesn't pay for much, but anything helps. And before people go picking apart my dollar figure, I just picked a random amount. So don't get all whiny about the money amount. Focus on the content folks.
