If you want to add a little sex-appeal to your overall look, but you're also a tad bit worried about about crossing the thin line, The Lucky Guide to Mastering any Style, by Kim France and Andrea Linett, shares four tips for standing out at work for all the right reasons.

"#1 Buy in Advance
Don't buy a glamorous dress the day you plan to wear it - that's the one day you're guaranteed not to find one.  Alternately, if you come across a dress that suits you, buy it on the spot.

Even if you don't have an event that night, the next I-don't-have anything-to-wear occasion is always right around the corner.

#2 Take advantage of department-store tailors
The Bombshell look is all about the perfect fit.

Ideally you'd have everything altered just a bit, but that can be both expensive and time-consuming, so don't forget that many department stores have in-house tailors who will hem or nip for free, or at least for a very small fee. (But remember, once something's been tailored, you can't return it.)

#3 Add vintage touches
An old flea market brooch or a pair of shoe clips can change plain black pumps into super-glam scene stealers.

But before you buy, examine the backs of vintage jewelry for glue, chips, or anything that would suggest it's been "fixed."

#4 Look at all angles
This is a very body-conscious look, and you've got to be totally honst with yourself when buying a super-snug piece of any kind.

Check yourself out in a full-way mirror; if there is a three-way mirror, all the better.  Step back as far as you can, and study yourself.

It's amazing how different an outfit can look in a head-to-toe mirror versus a typical, compact, cut-off-at-the-knees style.

Also beware the sneaky slimming mirrors -- a lot of stores have them.
