Mommy and me clothing has come a long way since the days of homemade skirts and blouses in matching floral patterns.
Now, there are hipper options, although those outfits were pretty stylish back in the day with the lace ruffles topped off with the feathered Farah Fawcett hair.
Come on, you know there’s a picture of you wearing the same thing, lurking in a photo album at your mother’s house!
Thankfully, clothing has taken a turn, and now children can follow the adult lead for styles instead of the other way around.
That’s exactly what Christina Ivanhoe thinks; she’s the woman behind the stylish creations of
Ivanhoe Couture. Ivanhoe believes children should be as hip and stylish as adults.
“I think children are such little miracles walking around that they should be able to wear eye catching look at me apparel just like we do”, Ivanhoe says.
Her creations aren’t going to suit every woman, or child’s taste and she says that’s ok, “you need to find your own style and help your children find theirs.” Here are her five tips to help you do it.
1. Always think outside of the box when it comes to mommy and me style. There are no limits; it is a bond between you and your child.
2.Always wear something that is eye catching. It could be blinged out shoes or an over the top headband; Ivanhoe says that is what makes you unique and gives you your own personal flair.
3. Have fun with it! If you are having fun then so is everyone that is looking at you. Remember it’s all about how you feel, and if that means a cool matching shirt or matching blinged out sandals that make you feel sassy, then do it!
4. Try and have that one pair of jeans that are stylish or you love. They go with anything.
5. Be yourself and let your children do the same. If your daughter wants to wear a tutu with a pair of converse tennis shoes and a shirt that doesn’t even come close to matching, let her do it. It makes her who she is and helps her create her own sense of style.
