As you begin to clean out your drawers and look for bras that no longer fit or never fit,
Bosom Buddy Bra Recycling recommends setting up an appointment with a professional bra fitter.
Fashion starts from the inside out! It may sound unlikely, but there's a large segment of the female population that has grown up with a bare minimum of under fashions in their wardrobes.
The hidden advantages of today's under fashions can improve the looks of the sveltest figures - not just those that really need help.
New fabric, fiber and construction technology make the difference in shaping and streamlining the natural figure and it all starts with a properly fitted bra.
Julia Hann from
Alice Rae Intimate Apparel in Scottsdale says her company works to meet these needs, but the essential elements remain the same:
Fit
Comfort
Durability
Easy Care
What A Good Bra Actually DoesHann says the breast is largely composed of glandular tissue and overlying skin. It has no outer layer of muscle to provide support. The breast depends on weak connectors to hold it loosely together and attach it to the chest wall.
The primary support comes from the suspensory (Coopers) ligaments which extend over the breast.
Not true ligaments, these weak cables are easily stretched and thus permit the breast to sag.
The larger the breast, the greater the weight of glandular and fatty tissue that can pull at the skin; causing greater sag and stretching.
A properly fitted bra helps preserve the tone of the breasts and eliminates premature sagging.
According to Hann a Good Bra Should:
1. Not dig in at the shoulder
2. Fit close the breast bone and not stand away at the center
3. Contain all the breast tissue inside the cup
4. Not ride up in the back
5. Be comfortable enough to slip a finger underneath the band at the base of the cups
6. Should not restrict movements
7. A good bra should Lift, Shape, Contain, Support and Separate the breasts
