What makes a star look like a star? How can ordinary folks catch some of that stardust?

Fashion guru Jeannie Mai knows. From faux pas to fabulous, Mai has tips on identifying common style problems (what’s wrong with the latest fashion trends); cull our closets of offending pieces; and brings us tips on how to create that star appeal to our wardrobe and overall look!

#1: THROW A STYLE SWAP PARTY
Invite all your loveliest ladies over to a night of mixing, matching, and mingling.

HOW: Invite your gals to do a spring cleaning of their closets to rid their old clothing, never worn clothing, accessories, jewelry, scarves, belts, shoes, basically everything you want to get rid of. Along with that, each brings two to three outfits that they need inspiration for sprucing up.

On the eve of, all the ladies arrive with their closet clearance and in a spacious room, pick a section to place out and organize their glamorous goods. Once each gal's "departments" are sectioned out, let the Style Swap begin!

Invite half of the gals to "shop" and mingle, while the other's stand by their "stations". "Shoppers" will peruse the room for ideas to spruce up the outfits they brought OR just trade for outfits they've got at home.

After about 30 min, swap roles. Encourage gals to not only "shop" for themselves, but for gift ideas for friends, too. Anything remaining can be donated to charitable organizations such as Dress For Success.
