Cool, casual, and relaxed. That’s the feeling of the Bohemian chic style. It’s characterized by its flowing, layered looks inspired by the hippie movement of the 70’s.

You don’t have to go hippie to wear this style, there are plenty of ways to incorporate it into your look without overdoing it.

If you shop the right way, you can create a boho chic look, just like the celebs, only on a budget.

  • A little goes a long way. Choose one Bohemian piece and wear it with a classic. For example put a Boho top with a pair of jeans, or a Boho skirt with a plain t-shirt or tank. Do too much and you’ll look like you just returned from Woodstock.

  • Look for boho inspired pieces. If you’re not ready to jump into the boho movement, look for pieces that have just a hint of it like folksy embroideries, wooden buttons, crocheted toppers and fringe.

  • Natural fibers are a signature of this style. You won’t see any metallic colors here instead look for cotton, linen, leather and suede.

  • Flowing silhouettes are another signature of this style. Think empire waists, maxi dresses, peasant blouses, and bell sleeved tops.

  • You can also add in Bohemian inspired accessories to a non-bohemian outfit. Try a slouchy hobo bag, or bangles and a necklace made out of natural materials to give your outfit a new style.
Bohemian Chic is located at Paradise Valley Mall; everything in the store is $35 or less.
