According to Diane Aiello, makeup artist and the owner of
Glam Lounge,
it is a terrific wearable look for both day and night.
A warm peachy or apricot tone is the perfect alternative and update to a pink lip this summer, Aiello says.
This sunny shade is fresh but sultry at the same time and looks especially great with a glowing summer tan.
An orange-tone lip pairs ideally with peach or bronze cheeks and works equally well with natural eye shadow colors, as it does with a smoky eye.
To keep the look modern and not dated, Aiello says be sure to match your lip liner as close as possible to your lipstick or gloss shade and blend.
She goes on to say you can also mix and match your liner to alter the shade; pink underneath will tone down the orange, while a warm peach liner will add vibrancy.
Top the lipstick with a bit of sheer peach or gold gloss.
For more mature wearers, Aiello says to keep the gloss only in the center of the lip instead of blending out to the corners to avoid feathering.
There are no hard rules for choosing the right peach or apricot tone, here are Aiello's tips.
Blondes tend to look better in softer more pastel oranges, brunette in oranges with a hint of pink, and redheads can use deeper, more vibrant, tones.
Darker skin tones or tan complexions have it the easiest as they are able to wear pastel or vibrant shades with ease.
Celebs have been spotted wearing their gorgeous apricot lips with the brightly-colored clothing that is so popular this season, such as yellow, green and blue.
In addition, apricot or peach lips look ever so pretty with a neutral palette of cream, tan and taupe or gold and bronze metallics.
