PHOENIX -- Phoenix Suns center forward Amar’e Stoudemire will become a special deputy for the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday.

Over the years, as central figure for the Suns franchise, Stoudemire has made numerous contributions to valley charities involving at-risk youth and women.

According to MCSO Lt. Brian Lee, Stoudemire is also a fan of the Sheriff’s Office and his policies.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio will officially swear in Stoudemire at 2 p.m. in Arpaio’s downtown Phoenix office at the Wells Fargo Building.
