Daniel Winnik scored the game-winning goal
early in the second period, and Ilya Bryzgalov picked up his third shutout of
the season after stopping all 32 shots faced, as the Phoenix Coyotes got by
the St. Louis Blues, 2-0, at Scottrade Center.
Taylor Pyatt also registered a goal, while Vernon Fiddler notched a pair of
assists for the Coyotes, who were able to build off a 4-1 win at Columbus on
Wednesday. Phoenix has won six of its last eight overall. Bryzgalov earned his
11th career shutout.
Ty Conklin stopped 27-of-29 shots for St. Louis, which has split its last six
games.
After a scoreless first period, Winnik got the Coyotes on the board 2:48 into
the second on a wrist shot from the top of the right circle that got by
Conklin on the stick side.
The score remained the same until 2:54 of the third period when Pyatt took a
nice feed from Fiddler and flipped a backhander past Conklin to put the
Coyotes up by a 2-0 margin.
St. Louis, in desperation mode, elected to pull Conklin in favor of the extra
attacker with over 3 1/2 minutes left in regulation but -- despite a flurry of
chances -- were unable to solve Bryzgalov.
Game Notes

finished 0-for-3 with the man advantage.
