TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona Cardinals announced that Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers sold out Friday.
NFL rules require that games be sold out 72 hours before kickoff in order for the game to be broadcast locally.
The NFL gave the Arizona Cardinals a 24-hour extension to the television blackout deadline for Sunday's game in Glendale.
Arizona's blackout deadline was extended until 2:15 p.m. local time Friday.
As of Thursday afternoon, the Cardinals had about 1,000 tickets remaining to be sold.
The Cardinals have sold out all 37 games played at University of Phoenix Stadium, which opened in 2006.
However, this is the third time this season that Arizona has needed a 24-hour blackout deadline extension from the league.
