PHOENIX - Sporting News just released their list of the Top 400 Sports cities.

By the looks of it, the person who wrote the article must have been throwing darts at a board with city names.

Below are their Top 10 (for the full list click here):

1. Pittsburgh
2. Philadelphia
3. Boston
4. Chicago + Evanston
5. Los Angeles
6. New York
7. Phoenix + Tempe
8. Miami
9. Dallas-Fort Worth
10. Detroit + Ann Arbor + Ypsilanti

Let's break this list down:

1. Pittsburgh – Obviously because of Steelers and Penguins Championship seasons

2. Philadelphia - Must be because they invented the sport of throwing snowballs at Santa Claus?

3. Boston – This one I can see as a top 10

4. Chicago – Another top 10 worthy city

5. Los Angeles – If it’s not good enough for the NFL, It’s not good enough for the top 10.

6. New York – It’s New York…. It’s automatic.

7. Phoenix – Grew up here, live here, cover sports here. I don’t even think it belongs in the top 20. I love Phoenix, but Phoenix is a “what have you done for me lately city.” The Cardinals run was fun, but now they are having trouble selling out the stadium, the Coyotes are a mess, the Suns are setting, and the D’Backs lost 92 games this year. The Mercury in the WNBA Finals is nice…. But they couldn’t even pack out the US Airways Center when tickets were handed out for free.

8. Miami – Shuffleboard and Celebrities being in ownership must have been part of the criteria.
9. Dallas – I’m ok with Dallas in the top 10

10. Detroit – The Lions alone knock you out of any consideration for the top 50.

My top 400 List starts with:

1. Who Cares ?
