If you are seeking assistance with your overwhelming unsecured debt – credit cards, medical bills, personal lines of credit – and are trying to determine a good company from a bad company, make sure you are a) asking the right questions, and b) DEFINITELY doing your homework!

You don’t need me to tell you that Debt Settlement companies are now a dime a dozen.
Even attorneys are jumping on the debt settlement train!

Any time there is a circumstance where consumers, or the general public for that matter, are in an unfortunate situation, there seems to be an influx of businesses focused on that misfortune!

Surely you want to choose a company that has been established long before the economy dipped into the depths of despair that it is in today.

Any company that has been in business for greater than 3 to 5 years would be a good choice, primarily because they started their business because they wanted to provide a service, not because they saw an opportunity to make a lot of money off of other people’s misfortunes.

For example, if the company you are considering also does Loan Modification and Real Estate, you may want to reconsider looking for a company that only specializes in Debt Settlement, and not a company that specializes in all the things that most Americans are struggling with at this time.

The reason for this is because you want a company that is here for the long haul, not a company that is only going to be here to make a quick buck by striking while the iron is hot, so to speak.

Some things to consider when selecting a Debt Settlement company:

• Are they members of any trade organization, such as USOBA.org?

• Are they local?

• Are their debt professionals Certified Debt Arbitrators?

• Are their fees competitive with others in the industry?

• Is the fee they are charging going into their pockets or into a savings account for you??

• Is the fee structure set up so that you are paying the company to hold your money for you? If so, have you considered that you could save upwards of $2000 saving the money on your own?

• When you do a Google search on them, are there any complaints?

• Is the company set up as a call center environment or do you have dedicated team members that work exclusively for you?

• Have they fully disclosed all possible legal ramifications?

• Is their program tailored to fit your needs or are you forced to fit into their program?

• Are there any continuing maintenance or management fees?

• Do they provide a FREE budget analysis?

• Do they write letters to the creditors that you aren't enrolling in the program to help reduce costs?

• Do they have a referral service that can help non-qualified clients find what financial option DOES work best for your needs? Believe it or not, not everyone is qualified for a debt settlement program.

• Do they partner with any of the big name service providers to help you get reduced fees elsewhere?

These are just a few of the questions you should be asking when deciding on an ethical, trustworthy, and LOCAL company with which to work on your financial situation.

Our company is all of that as well as professional and experienced, and our counselors are Certified Debt Arbitrators, so you know that you have the very best people working on your behalf!
