When it comes to expressing your personal style, one man comes to mind,
Simon Doonan.
If you don’t recognize his name you certainly will remember his sense of style, known for dressing in loud and eccentric styles, the Creative Director of
Barney’s has a style all his own, and he says you should too!
Doonan says “Everyone needs to express themselves with their fashion, whether they are a punk rocker, an intellectual or a bohemian. There’s a million ways to dress and you have to pick the one that best expresses who you are.”
His only rule for fashion, "The only real faux pas i s not being yourself" he says.
The style icon recently visited the Valley to promote the upcoming opening of Barney’s at Fashion Square (Fall 2009).
The department store will be located in the location of the former Robinson’s May.
While summer will be over by the time Barney’s opens, we couldn’t resist asking him about the top trends for the season.
Here is his must have list:
Wedge or Espadrille sandal
Jelly shoe in a gladiator style
Cotton hot pants, which he says any woman can wear
Lots and lots of color!
We also asked about keeping your cool in the desert heat. For that Doonan says, “Get your boyfriend to fan you and feed you frozen grapes.” We have to admit it sounds like a great plan!
