'Woodchute Fire' burns near Jerome

JEROME, AZ -- The Woodchute Fire has destroyed 748 acres near Jerome, according to a Prescott National Forest news release.
 
The lightning-caused fire, which started Sunday, July 19, is burning north of Forest Road 103 and west near the trailhead of Forest Trail 102, which borders the Woodchute Wilderness.

The fire, which is 80-percent contained, burned down to Highway 89A, prompting a road closure due to smoke and the proximity of the fire.
