Skeleton Fire 50% contained in southeastern Arizona

A fire burning in the Coronado National Forerst in southeastern Arizona is 50-percent contained, according to a Wednesday report.

The fire, which was caused by lightning on May 30th, is burning in the Peloncillo Mountains, south of Deer Creek, according to Heidi Schewel with the Coronado Nation Forest.

The flames are burning pinyon/juniper and grass and Schewel said 9,230 acres have been treated.

Completed control lines are holding and stopping movement. 

The fire will continue to burn inside the lines and smoke may be present at times.  Crews will continue to hold the perimeter and monitor the fire.
