Castlebrook, what is your comment supposed to mean? Imagine that. I am to only assume that is sarcasm. You obviously are not aware of the positive effects of prescribed fire. You are probably one of those homeowners refusing to leave their home, only to be in the way, crying for a Fire Engine to be placed in your driveway. You don't do any mitigation and stand on your rooftop with a garden hose when the flame front arrives. Do yourself a favor and thank a firefighter today instead.

The Coconino website is now back up after a couple weeks due to a "worm" on their server. The original lightening caused 20 acre fire is still burning. The rest of the acreage is a burn at the top of the rim above the original fire that is being used to burn fuel if the original fire were to make a run up the rim at some point in time.

You may want to research this again as this was originally reported as being lightening caused and only 20 acres last Thursday/Friday. I heard over the weelend the forest service was using back burns to control the fire and were also letting it burn as a controlled burn. The hippie tree huggers have forced them to do that as the forest service are allowed only so many acres a year in controlled burns. The loop hole is if it is "lightening" cuased they have leeway. It is interesting and unusual that the forest service has no info on this fire on their website.
