The Dripping Springs fire in the Tonto National Forest has spread north as firefighters continue to try to control the flames, according to a Tuesday report.
According to Paige Rockett of the Department of Agriculture Southwest Region, fire officials were “cautiously optimistic the wildfire will be quickly brought under control.”
However, the fire has spread to 60 acres north, 1.5 miles east of Pine.
Aircraft operations to help put out the fire have been hindered due to reports of underbrush putting up heavy smoke.
The fire was caused by a campfire and officials said Tuesday that they have a suspect, but that person has not been arrested.
No structures are currently under threat and the estimated cost of damage is not known at this point.
