Reported by: Associated Press
Last Update: 7/28 6:26 pm
PHOENIX -- Federal prosecutors say three Phoenix men have agreed to pay a $550,000 settlement after their abandoned campfire led to a wildfire that charred about 70 acres in the Sedona area.

Brad Cislini, Gary Griffo and Matthew Warnke settled with the U.S. Attorney's office for Arizona, agreeing to pay about $183,333 apiece for firefighting costs in the May 2003 wildfire.

The settlement was announced Monday.

Investigators say the men's campfire was not properly extinguished and caused the wildfire in the Red Rock Secret Canyon Wilderness area of the Coconino National Forest near Sedona.
