"We were gonna make some carne asada beef tacos," he said as he started a fire in a pit.
Bodhof is having friends over for a barbecue, but even on his day off, he's burning mad with the Tolleson Police Department.
"They are supposed to protect and serve us, not harrass us," he said.
Bodhof was recently cited for riding a go-cart on the sidewalk in front of his house.
The officer gave him several tickets with fines totalling more than $1,500 dollars.
A few weeks later, he got busted doing it again ... by the same officer.
"I've gotten 12 tickets, and my sister has gotten one. All from the same officer," Bodhof said.
He claims he's being picked on by the officer.
Bodhof recently set out to let others know he felt he was being singled out.
He placed several large signs in his yard calling for the officer's job.
He says it's his way of venting his frustration.
"He's very over-zealous I guess would be the word for it," Bodhof said.
City code enforcement officials told Bodhof this week to take down the signs, which he says he will.
Police say they're aware of Bodhof's concerns, but have not gotten a formal complaint.
Sgt. Obed Gayton said the officer was just doing his job.
"We get called names every single day," Gayton said. "People might not appreciate the things officers do, but that's OK. We're out here to do a job."
