That means a time for fun, dancing and memories.
But for police, proms are also a time for something else: underage drinking and driving.
Glendale officers were out Saturday night patrolling the area near Westage City Center, near where Tolleson High School was hosting their prom.
The officers are working a special enforcement detail aimed at curbing drinking and driving during prom and graduation parties.
Police say they've teamed up with local high schools to find out where proms and graduations are taking place during the next few weeks.
Officers are using extra officers and a zero tollerance policy.
But some students said they don't mind.
"If it keeps everyone from drinking and driving, then it keeps us safe," student Jason Fleming said.
The enforcements are being funded with federal and state grants.
The prom detail Saturday was the second one for Glendale police this year.
Officers will also be out again next weekend.
