What poor timing! When the bond committee was created it seemed like someone thought a bond issue would provide funds for big projects. In good times we would support the idea but we can't think of any poorer time to put an issue like this on the ballot. When the committee was formed the purpose seemed to be to answer the questions of . 1.Should we have a bond issue and 2. If we have an issue what should the money be spent on. With tough times now our hopes are it is defeated by a huge amount . Let the mayor make his name wisely spending the current money available and keep the city workers on the payroll.Just because almost every other city has bond issues and Surprise doesn't is no reason for us to have one. Arguments about the present low cost of construction and money are valid at present and could be even lowere and less in the future. Let's get the present economy going before adding costs to families budgets that are already being stressed.
