SURPRISE, AZ – Two teens and a 20-year-old have been arrested as suspects in a string of burglaries from July.
According to the Surprise Police Department, the trio first broke into a house on July 12th in the 24400 block of North Citrus Rd., between Enoch and Norwich drives.
The homeowner said she returned to her house to find the power turned off and noticed that many items were missing.
On July 30, a second burglary occurred at the 20300 block of North Sojourner Dr., between Cibola and Pueblo lanes.
In this case, the homeowner said she was warned by her cat’s strange behavior while she was in her bedroom, leading her to discover the three burglars, two men and one woman, in her home.
However, police said the trio fled the scene through a back patio door and managed to escape with several of the resident’s belongings.
After researching the first burglary, police said they obtained a search warrant for a car parked in the same neighborhood. Inside, they said they discovered numerous stolen items.
Police said they got confirmation from the evidence in the vehicle that the three people who had been seen at the residence on Sojourner Drive were Joseph Romero, 20, Dominic Romero, 19, and a 17-year-old female, according to Spokesman Sgt. Mark Ortega.
Joseph Romero was arrested and charged with one count of second-degree burglary, which is a class three felony.
Dominic Romero was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree burglary and one count trafficking stolen property, which is also a class three felony.
The 17-year-old female was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary, a juvenile probation violation warrant, shoplifting and giving false information to a police officer.
Additional charges for this case are pending.
