SURPRISE, AZ – A car wash was held Sunday to help the family of a Sheriff's deputy killed in a motorcycle accident last weekend.

William Milender, 44, of Surprise died in the crash that happened about 9 a.m. on state Route 89 north of Wickeburg, according to Maricopa County Sheriff's spokesman Doug Matteson.

Matteson said Milender had been with the department for two years and worked in the court security division.

The car wash was held until 1 p.m. at the Sheriff's substation located at Bell and Dysart roads.

Matteson said Milender leaves behind a wife and young daughter.
