YOUNGTOWN, AZ -- People trying to raise money for the children of a murdered Youngtown mother held a car wash in Sun City Saturday.

Family and friends washed cars in memory of Sabrina Alcantar between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the KFC near Grand and 107th avenues.

According to organizer Mary Dickinson, they were able to raise $1,500 during the event and that the family was touched by the support from the community.

Authorities said Alcantar's estranged husband, Manuel Alcantar, slashed her throat, then left her body in the middle of the street.

Manuel Alcantar was later found dead, hanging from an overpass near Grand Avenue and Thunderbird Road. Authorities said he committed suicide.

Anyone wanting to help can donate to "The Sabrina Alcantar Memorial Fund" at Bank of America.
