PEORIA, AZ -- Toast to the Troops held its first thank you event for military men and women in uniform Saturday night.

The purpose of the event was for people in the community to meet and express thanks to the men and women that sacrifice so much on our behalf and to raise money for Operation Homefront of Arizona.

Toast to the Troops was started by a veteran and a group of volunteers.

They wanted to gather local residents and businesses to honor men and women serving in the armed forces.

Money raised through sponsorships and ticket sales is donated to organizations that support active service members and their families in a time of need.

The event was hosted at Mercedes-Benz of Arrowhead.

As a gift to Toast to the Troops, the dealership offered a Black Forest-Alps Rally Package as a prize to one lucky winner.

The trip includes roundtrip airfare for two to Germany, 7 days and 6 nights at luxury hotels and the use of a brand new 2010 Mercedes E350 straight from the factory.
