PEORIA, AZ -- A woman who lost the box containing her young son's ashes during a burglary last week is now offering a reward for information that leads to its recovery.

When the Peoria family returned home on November 19th, they found the garage door wide open and something very important missing.

One of the items taken was a red wooden box which contained the ashes of baby Tyler who died 13 years ago of sudden infant death syndrome.

It all happened at a home near 75th Avenue and Thunderbird Road.

Mom Lindsay Grannis said she feels like she's losing her son all over again.

It's the same heartbreak she felt back in December 1996, when her 5-month-old son died.

"Laid him down for a nap with his twin brother and he just never woke up," said Grannis.

Tyler's twin brother Taylor is now 13.

Taylor said they still share a special bond.

"Whoever took him, I just want my brother back," said Taylor Ross. "He was my only brother, I kind of want him back."

The burglars ransacked the house, stealing electronics too.

"I do not belive that the people who took Tyler realized," said Grannis. "It's a music box and when you open it, it plays 'You are my Sunshine'."

The family said the box has no monetary value for anyone but them and they're willing to make a deal.

If the ashes are returned to any Peoria or Phoenix Fire Station, the burglars can keep the rest, said Grannis.

"Please bring the baby back, he belongs with his family," said Grannis. "We want him home for Christmas."

Anyone with information that may help the family is encouraged to call Peoria Police at 623-773-7045 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.

There's a $200 reward for information that leads to the box recovery.

Police said they believe the burglars got inside the Grannis' home by using a universal garage door remote.

The family has set up an account at Bank of America, for anyone wishing to make a donation the account number is 457015963329.
