PEORIA, AZ – A woman was killed after a fire burned through a Peoria home early Friday.
Mike Tellef with Peoria Police and Fire said someone called 911 around 2:30 a.m. after smelling smoke.
Police arrived on scene and an officer reportedly opened the front door of the home to find a 91-year-old woman.
Tellef said the officer pulled her out and discovered she was deceased.
Fire crews arrived at the scene and put out the flames.
The fire was contained to one apartment and no other units were affected, according to police.
The cause of the fire and the identity of the victim have not been released.
