PEORIA, AZ -- More Valley students are on the way to preventing the spread of the H1N1 virus.
Starting Monday, students in the Peoria Unified School District will have the chance to get the H1N1 vaccine.
Clinics will be held at all 31 of the district's elementary schools through the end of the month starting with Frontier Elementary School later Monday. Health officials said only enrolled students and school staff members will be permitted to receive the in-demand vaccine.
This comes at the same time health officials released the latest numbers on swine flu dangers in Arizona. Eighty-one people have died from the swine flu, 51 of them since October 4th. That means nearly 60% of those deaths came in the past month.
Children are said to be a high risk category, but not teachers. One Valley teacher Vicki Geske wonders why teachers are not on the priority list for the vaccine, especially since they come in contact with so many children everyday. "I teach 15 kids a day," she said.
After Frontier Elementary School today, the vaccine process moves onto Sundance Elementary.
