PEORIA, AZ -- The Parkview Estates housing complex got an energy saving makeover Thursday.
Old light bulbs at the 45-unit housing complex, which is owned by the Peoria Housing Authority, were replaced with new incandescent light bulbs.
The complex, which is operated by the Housing Authority of Maricopa County, is occupied by elderly and disabled residents.
A spokeswoman with the City of Peoria says the new bulbs, which were donated by APS, will help cut the housing complex’s energy use and save money.
“These light bulbs save about 75 percent more energy than a regular incandescent light bulb,” spokesperson Carin Imig says. “And over the course of the life of these light bulbs we expect the Housing Authority to save about $17,000.”
