TONOPAH, AZ -- Officers discovered a body on Interstate 10 near Tonopah Tuesday night, according to Department of Public Safety officials.
DPS Officer Black said his department responded to a call around 9:30 p.m. about a body in the roadway at milepost 86 on Interstate 10 about six miles west of Tonopah.
Black said the pedestrian's body was discovered in the eastbound lanes of the freeway.
According to officials the pedestrian was the victim of a hit and run.
Black said officers are unsure what type of vehicle hit the victim, but are investigating the incident.
According to Black, one eastbound lane of the freeway was closed and significant delays in the area were expected.
The roadway was reopened early Wednesday.
